Manchester United have ended their run of three games without a victory in all competitions after their success over Brighton and Hove Albion earlier this week. The two teams met in the Premier League and it was hosts Manchester United who emerged victorious thanks to an impressive display in the second half.

The Red Devils came into the Brighton game on the back of a winless run that saw them exit the FA Cup and also diminished their top-four hopes. Their last win before the run of games without victory in all competitions started was against fellow Premier League top-four chasers West Ham United. England international Marcus Rashford came off the bench to score the only goal of the game against the Hammers in stoppage time. The home win over West Ham United lifted Manchester United above their opponents and into the top four places on the log.

In the next game after the West Ham game, Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw by English Championship side Middlesbrough at home at the end of extra time in the fourth round of the FA Cup before the visitors triumphed 8-7 on penalties to advance to the next stage of the competition.

The Red Devils made it two winless matches in all competitions with the 1-1 draw at the home of Burnley in the league. The same scoreline was recorded as hosts Manchester United and Southampton played out a 1-1 draw at the Theatre of Dreams on Saturday  lunchtime as the Red Devils took their winless run to three games in all competitions.

The winless run ended with the 2-0 home win over 10-man Brighton with goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes. The goals from the Portuguese duo of Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo came in the second half. After a goalless affair in the first half, Manchester United took the lead through Cristiano Ronaldo before Brighton skipper Lewis Dunk was sent off for a professional foul. Ex-Sporting Lisbon skipper Fernandes wrapped up the points in stoppage time to take Manchester United above the Hammers and into fourth spot on the table.
